Dr Silvin Knight

Dr Silvin Knight joined TILDA in February 2018 as a Research Fellow and he presently works within the FRAILMATICS research program. His current research interests include quantitative modelling of cardiovascular and neurovascular haemodynamics and autoregulation, as well as developing machine learning and data-driven approaches for the analysis of these vascular networks. Silvin is also a lead on the MRI research group at TILDA.

Prior to joining TILDA, Silvin’s research was largely focused on developing model systems and methodologies for improving and characterising the accuracy and precision of a number of quantitative MRI and ultrasound imaging techniques. Silvin completed his PhD at Trinity College Dublin in 2018 (funded by a four year research scholarship from the Irish Cancer Society), which was focused on improving the sensitivity and specificity of dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) MRI for the detection of prostate cancer. He received his BSc in Physics (with Medical Physics and Bioengineering) from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2013, graduating with first-class honours. Prior to the career change into physics and biomedical engineering in 2010, he worked for over 10 years in the design and advertising industry as a graphic designer and project manager.
