Terms of Reference
As the WHO Collaborating Centre on Longitudinal Studies on Ageing and the Life Course, TILDA is dedicated to advancing global knowledge on healthy ageing through several key activities.
The Terms of Reference for the Centre are:
- Under WHO’s leadership, to provide technical support for WHO to strengthen data measurement, monitoring, and research on healthy ageing.
- Under WHO's leadership, support countries in conducting national surveys of ageing that are comparable to established studies.
- Under WHO’s leadership, support knowledge exchange, translation and dissemination between WHO, UN and other international organisations with international longitudinal studies of ageing within the Health and Retirement Survey (HRS) network and other population ageing cohorts.
Enhancing Data Measurement and Research:
We will provide expert technical support to improve data measurement, monitoring, and research on healthy ageing. By leveraging our extensive longitudinal studies, we aim to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of global ageing metrics.
Supporting National Ageing Surveys:
In collaboration with WHO, we will assist countries in designing and conducting national surveys on ageing. Our goal is to ensure that these surveys are consistent with established studies, thereby promoting comparability and reliability of data across different regions and contributing to a unified global understanding of ageing.
Facilitating Knowledge Exchange:
We will facilitate the exchange, translation, and dissemination of knowledge between WHO, the UN, and other international organizations engaged in ageing research. This includes collaboration within the Health and Retirement Survey (HRS) network and other population ageing cohorts to promote global collaboration and share insights from longitudinal ageing studies.
