Rethinking Democracy in an Age of Pandemic
As Government and health officials deal with the fallout caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a special series of workshops curated by the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute and the Society of Fellows and Heyman Center for the Humanities at Columbia University explore the impact of the crisis on democracies around the world.
In “Rethinking Democracy in an Age of Pandemic”, Professor Rose Ann Kenny outlines the challenges nursing homes and the care sector have faced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and how lessons must be learned from the crisis in order to shape a better future for our ageing population. The webinar also involves important discussion on how the outbreak of this disease has exposed pervasive attitudes of ageism in the media and society in the midst of the pandemic and how ageism can impede positive ageing in older adults.
