Questionnaire Harmonisation
TILDA data are collected using three modes of assessment.
Questionnaires are harmonised as best as possible across each wave to maintain the structural integrity of the study. New modules and questions are considered at each wave of data collection to include new pertinent topics, or to remove redunant topics. Details on questions and availability at each wave can be explored by each mode of collection below.
Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI)
Face-to-face interviews conducted in participants' homes by trained interviewers using computer-assisted technology.
Self-Completion Questionnaire (SCQ)
Self-completion questionnaires completed by participants in their own time and returned by post.
End of Life Interview (EOL)
Conducted with a knowledgeable proxy following the death of a participant. Provides information on end-of-life circumstances, care received, and healthcare utilisation.
Questionnaires across all modes are harmonised where possible, with detailed mappings and documentation to support consistent data use and comparison across TILDA waves.
