Mr Vitor Costa Oliveira

Mr Vitor Costa Oliveira joined the TILDA Team in January 2022, as Research Nurse for the TILDA Healthy Cognitive Ageing Project (TILDA-HCAP).

The TILDA-HCAP is a new study within TILDA, which focuses on brain health and healthy cognitive ageing, with the aim of creating a unique harmonised dataset which will help tp detail important causes, indicators, connections, and consequences of cognitive decline. This study will help to improve understanding of healthy cognitive ageing.

Vitor obtained his BSc in Nursing in the University of Aveiro, Portugal in 2011, and was awarded a postgraduate certificate in Geriatric and Gerontological Nursing Studies in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, Portugal.

Since coming to Ireland in 2012, Vitor has gained clinical experience in general medicine, oncology, palliative care, and geriatric nursing, in both the Hermitage Medical Clinic and Marymount Care Centre.

Vitor registered as a Nurse Prescriber with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland in 2019 and was given the scope to exercise this in his time as Clinical Nurse Manager in a nursing home. He also completed his MSc in Nursing in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2021 and his thesis studied the effect of vitamin D supplementation in the incidence of hip fractures in older people which reinforced his keen interest in research.
