Dr Cillian McDowell
Dr Cillian McDowell joined the TILDA team in October 2019 on an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship. In this role he will examine 1) determinants and mental health outcomes of physical activity and 2) the psychological and physiological mechanisms that may underpin the physical activity–mental health relationship.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Limerick in 2019 and has over thirty peer-reviewed publications in top Psychiatry, Public Health, and Sports Science journals. This research has featured widely in national (e.g., Irish Times, Irish Independent) and international (e.g., The New York Times, TIME Magazine, Runner’s World, Men’s Health, Vice) media.
